Algumas das definições de resilience na web em inglês:
The capacity of a system, community or society potentially exposed to hazards to adapt, by resisting or changing in order to reach and maintain an acceptable level of functioning and structure. This is determined by the degree to which the social system is capable of organizing itself to increase its capacity for learning from past disasters for better future protection and to improve risk reduction measures.
Manifested competence in the context of significant challenges to adaptation or development.
The ability for an ecosystem to rebound from a disturbance.
The ability to cope successfully in the face of significant adversity or risk. This capability develops and changes over time, is enhanced by protective factors, and contributes to the maintenance or enhancement of health.
Capacities within a person that may mitigate, compensate or provide protection from factors that might otherwise place that person at risk of suicide.
The ability to regain original state.
Resilience generally means the ability to recover from some shock, insult, or disturbance. However, it is used quite differently in different fields.
